Suspend and Resume Asset Depreciation

You can suspend and resume depreciation for assets.
Workday:
  • Sets the status of business assets that you suspend to
    Out of Service
    .
  • Extends the useful life of assets by the number of days suspension occurred.
  • Sets the depreciation amount to zero for periods where depreciation suspension fully occurred.
To view when you suspended and resumed depreciation for assets by book, access the
In Service Schedule
tab on the
View Asset by Book
report.
You can't make changes to assets when other events are in progress.
  1. From the related actions menu of an asset in service, select
    Business Asset
    Suspend Depreciation
    .
  2. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    Restricted to Books
    When an asset is in multiple company asset books, either:
    • Select the books where you want to apply the change.
    • Leave the field blank to apply the change in every book.
    Suspend Schedule
    Displays the dates when you suspend and resume depreciation by asset book.
  3. From the related actions menu of a suspended asset, select
    Business Asset
    Resume Depreciation
    .
  4. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    Transaction Effective Date
    You can't schedule depreciation to resume at a future date.
    You can cancel depreciation suspension by resuming depreciation on the same effective date as the latest suspension date on the asset. Workday clears the latest
    In-Service To Date
    and doesn't create any new entry the in-service schedule.
    You can enter a future date only to cancel depreciation suspension.
