Concept: Asset Book Configurations

Asset book configurations capture depreciation options for an asset in a given asset book.

Review Asset Book Configurations

You can review asset book configurations on the
Books
tab of assets. See View Assets.
On the
Asset Book Configuration
grid, you can also click the link in the
Book View
column to access the
View Asset by Book
task, which enables you to review detailed information for an asset in a nonprimary asset book.

Maintain Asset Book Configurations

When you register assets, Workday uses asset book rules to populate asset book configurations.
You can change asset book configurations using 1 of these tasks:

Primary accounting book
Upon capital asset registration, you can change asset depreciation options in the primary accounting book.
Change Accounting Information
Accounting books
Enables you to change depreciation options for the asset in accounting books. You can restrict which accounting books to update using the
Restricted to Books
prompt in the
Accounting Book Information
column.
Change Asset Book Configuration
Nonaccounting books
Enables you to change depreciation options for the asset in nonaccounting books.
You can access this task from the
View Asset by Book
task.
You can also create an EIB based on the
Update Asset Book Configuration
web service operation to:
  • Change asset book configurations in nonprimary asset books.
  • Add assets to asset books.
