Assign Pay and Grade Retention to Workers
Security:
- Set Up: Compensationin the Core Compensation functional area.
- Worker Data: Compensationin the Core Compensation functional area.
- Worker Data: Staffingin the Staffing functional area.
Enable the
Personnel Action Request
process as a subprocess of these business processes:
- Change Job.
- Hire.
- Request Compensation Change.
You can use Pay Rate Determinants (PRDs) in Workday to enable pay and grade retention to retain a worker's previous pay or grade when they must move to a position of lower responsibility. You can capture relevant retained grade and pay information on SF 50 in Workday when a worker undergoes a Personnel Action Request (PAR).
Workers on pay and grade retention are excluded from:
- Updates made in theSet Up Compensation Step Adjustmenttask.
- Automatic step progression.
- Quality step increases.
- Step progression overrides.
- Configure Pay Rate Determinants.Access theMaintain Pay Rate Determinantstask. Configure PRDs withGrade RetentionorPay Retentionas theType.
- (Optional) Maintain Compensation Change Templates.Create templates for theChange Job,Hire (Propose Compensation Change), andRequest Compensation Changeprocess types. Include theGuidelinessection for each template. After you create a template forHire (Propose Compensation Change), access theConfigure Business Process Consolidated Templatetask. Then, add a row under theHirebusiness process and selectPropose Compensation Hire. If you can't access the task, select the related actions menu of theHirebusiness process and select . See Troubleshooting: Configure Business Process Consolidated Template.
- Select your pay or grade retention PRD in thePay Rate Determinantfield located in theCompensation - Guidelinessection when you run these processes:
- Request Compensation Change.
- Hire(in thePropose Compensationsection).
- Change Job.
- Enter pay or grade retention information in the revealed fields.
Workers will be placed on or incur an update to pay or grade retention. After the PAR-enabled business process triggers a PAR event, pay or grade retention information is captured in the PAR event where relevant.
Run the
View Pay Rate Determinant
report to see configured PRDs.View PRDs and pay or grade retention details in these areas:
- TheView Compensationtask.
- Compensation History.
- TheCompensationpage of a worker's profile.
