  • Worker Data: Compensation
in the Core Compensation functional area.
  • Worker Data: Staffing

Enable the
Personnel Action Request
process as a subprocess of these business processes:
  • Change Job
    .
  • Hire
    .
  • Request Compensation Change
    .
See Steps: Configure the Personnel Action Request Business Process.
You can use Pay Rate Determinants (PRDs) in Workday to enable pay and grade retention to retain a worker's previous pay or grade when they must move to a position of lower responsibility. You can capture relevant retained grade and pay information on SF 50 in Workday when a worker undergoes a Personnel Action Request (PAR).
Workers on pay and grade retention are excluded from:
  • Updates made in the
    Set Up Compensation Step Adjustment
    task.
  • Automatic step progression.
  • Quality step increases.
  • Step progression overrides.
  1. Configure Pay Rate Determinants.
    Access the
    Maintain Pay Rate Determinants
    task. Configure PRDs with
    Grade Retention
    or
    Pay Retention
    as the
    Type
    .
  2. Create templates for the
    Change Job
    ,
    Hire (Propose Compensation Change)
    , and
    Request Compensation Change
    process types. Include the
    Guidelines
section for each template. After you create a template for
    Hire (Propose Compensation Change)
    , access the
    Configure Business Process Consolidated Template
task. Then, add a row under the
    Hire
    business process and select
    Propose Compensation Hire
. If you can't access the task, select the related actions menu of the
    Hire
    business process and select
    Business Process
    Configure Consolidated Template
. See Troubleshooting: Configure Business Process Consolidated Template.
  3. Select your pay or grade retention PRD in the
    Pay Rate Determinant
    field located in the
    Compensation - Guidelines
section when you run these processes:
    • Request Compensation Change
      .
    • Hire
      (in the
      Propose Compensation
      section).
    • Change Job
      .
  4. Enter pay or grade retention information in the revealed fields.
Workers will be placed on or incur an update to pay or grade retention. After the PAR-enabled business process triggers a PAR event, pay or grade retention information is captured in the PAR event where relevant.
Run the
View Pay Rate Determinant
report to see configured PRDs.
View PRDs and pay or grade retention details in these areas:
  • The
    View Compensation
    task.
  • Compensation History.
  • The
    Compensation
    page of a worker's profile.
