Create Reconciliations for Fiscal Periods in AP&C

Create Reconciliations for Fiscal Periods in AP&C

Create account reconciliations for specified periods in Adaptive Planning and Consolidation (AP&C), either as a one-off job or on a recurring schedule. Preparers can then access the reconciliations through the
Account Reconciliation Hub
and add supporting balances and reconciling items.
  1. Access the
    Create Account Reconciliation for Period
    task.
  2. (Optional) Complete the
    Schedule
    tab.
We recommend that you create reconciliations at the end of the period or the beginning of the next period. Note that the ledger balance displayed on the
    Reconciliation Overview
    report on the
    Account Reconciliation Hub
    and on the
    View Reconciliation Workspace
report always reflects the updated ledger balance for the period, regardless of when you run the
    Create Account Reconciliation for Period
    task.
  3. Complete the
    Reconciliation Period
    tab:
    Option Description
    Period Option
This option specifies which period to create reconciliations for. The
    Current Period
    ,
    Next Period
    , and
    Prior Period
options are relative to the date the job runs in the tenant time zone, whether you are creating reconciliations immediately or scheduling them for future periods.
Example: When you run this job on 2026-02-25 and select
    Current Period
, the period being reconciled is February 2025. When you select
    Next Period
, the period being reconciled is March 2025.
    When you select
    Select Period
from this prompt, you can create ad hoc reconciliations for any created ledger period. Example: After you cancel an existing reconciliation, you can use the
    Select Period
option to generate a new one.
Workday uses your selection from this prompt in combination with the
    Frequency
selected on the account reconciliation definition to determine which reconciliations to create.
    Example:
The frequency on your reconciliation definition is set to
    Quarterly
. Your fiscal summary schedule defines Q2 as July, August, and September, and Q3 as October, November, and December.
If you run this job on 2026-09-30 and select
    Current Period
, Workday will create a reconciliation for Q2 because September is at the end of Q2. If you select
    Next Period
, Workday won't create a reconciliation because the next period, October, isn't at the end of the quarter.
Workday creates account reconciliations for the selected account reconciliation definitions. The reconciliations have the status
Not Started
.
After you create reconciliations for a period using a definition, you can't edit the definition unless the reconciliations are canceled. You can only inactivate the reconciliation definition.
Preparers can view and assign themselves to reconciliations on the
Account Reconciliation Hub
