Reference: Colors and Notations in Sheets

Sheet cell background, border, text, and corner colors provide information about the data.
The indicators for Excel Interface for Planning are similar to standalone sheets.

Background Colors

Background Color
Description
White background.
You can change the data.
Gray background.
You can't change the data. The color or style of the text might indicate why.
Blue background.
Rollup data for accounts, time, custom dimensions, or splits. You can change rollup data and use breakback methods to update the contributing data.
Green background.
Changes that you made for this scenario version. You can continue to change this data. For changed rollup cells in scenario versions, we continue to display the cells with a blue background.

Text Colors or Styles

Description
Blue text.
The data isn't saved.
Green text.
Indicates actuals data.
Bold text.
Indicates totals.
Red text.
The formula that calculates the data references another cell that has an error.
Strikethrough text.
You deleted this row for this scenario version.

Border Colors

Border Colors
Description
Orange border.
This cell data is invalid according to a data validation rule from your model administrator. You can still save the sheet with this invalid data.
Red border.
Either:
  • The formula that calculates the data has an error.
  • You need to enter data before saving.
  • This cell data is invalid according to a data validation rule from your model administrator. You must fix the data before you can save.
Purple border.
Data falls outside the expected range of machine learning predictions.

Shapes

Shape
Description
Column header with gray triangle.
Indicates a hidden column to the right or left. Use
Display Options
to display hidden columns.
Blue triangle.
A formula calculates the data. The background color indicates whether you can change or replace the formula.
Green triangle.
Indicates derived dimension data that we automatically populate from dimension mapping rules.
Purple triangle.
Data was generated by a predictive forecaster.
You can hover over these cells to view the forecast range and accuracy metrics. If cells with generated data exist on a row, we display the purple triangle and hover text on all cells in the row.
Red triangle.
Data has a cell note.
Gray or green check boxes and switches.
Indicates saved data.
Blue check boxes and switches.
Indicates unsaved data.
Half-filled circle.
A contra account or contra account rollup.
