Steps: Remove Dimension Values from Derived Dimensions in Dashboards

You might have many reasons to remove dimension values from mapping rules. 1 reason could be that you want to delete the dimension value. When dimension values have dependencies in the

Derived Dimensions

tab, it means that the dimension values are part of mapping rules for derived dimensions. To delete the dimension value or the dimension, you must first change or delete the mapping rule.

When you must remove all the mappings of a dimension, you must remove the mappings in Dashboards. You might already have a dashboard that has the mapping table. If not, you must create the mapping table, which requires the Edit Dashboard
permission.

When you must only remove mappings from a few of the dimension values, you can use the import function with the Reload Mapping(s)
option. See Remove Dimension Values from Derived Dimensions with Import.

Export the dimension mapping.

See Import Dimension Mappings. You can refer to the exported file to ensure that you delete all the mappings.

If you don't have a dashboard with the mapping table, create the mapping table.

Security: Edit Dashboards
permissions.

Create Perspectives.

Create Dashboards.

Add Dimension Mapping Tables in Dashboards.

Select the dimension that you want to manage.

Save the dashboard.

If you do have a dashboard with the mapping table, open the perspective:

From the main menu, select Dashboards
.

Open the perspective that has the mapping table.

From the perspective toolbar, select the Level
as indicated on the exported mappings.

Select the row with the dimension value.

From the table toolbar, select the Delete Row
button.

You can also replace with another dimension value.

From the toolbar, select Save
.

You have removed the mappings. Mappings are a dependency that prevents you from deleting dimension values. After you remove the mappings, the dependency is resolved. You can delete the dimension value when all dependencies have been resolved. You can also disable the Use mapping criteria to set dimension value on modeled sheets
check box for the dimension if you have removed all mappings.
