Remove Dimension Values from Cell-Entered Formulas in Modeled and Standard Sheets

Security:
  • Editable Sheet Access
    permission.
  • Model includes: sheets, accounts, dimensions, and formulas
    .
You might have many reasons to remove dimensions from the formulas end users have entered on standard and modeled sheets. The most common reason is that you want to delete a custom dimension value that's in use. Dependencies in the
Other Entries
tab of the
View Dependencies
table means that formulas entered into the cells of the cube sheet refer to the dimension value.
You can delete the dimension without resolving these dependencies. However, when you do delete the dimension value, the formulas return errors, which could affect your data downstream. To avoid the errors, you can find the entries and remove the references. You can also correct the errors after you delete the dimension value.
  1. Select
    Modeling
    from the main menu.
  2. Click
    Dimensions
    .
  3. From the list, expand the dimension to display the value that you want to delete or resolve.
  4. From the
    Dimension Value Details
    section, click
    View Dependencies
    .
  5. Click the Other Entries tab.
  6. Make note of these details:
    • Account code.
    • Date.
    • Level.
    • Version.
  7. Use the account code to find the sheet.
When the account code has a prefix, the formula is in the timespan cells of a modeled sheet. Use the prefix to find the name of the modeled sheet.
When there's no prefix, the formula is in a standard sheet. Find the standard sheet that has the account. See Example: Find Account Usage from Model Overview.
