FAQ: Account Basics

How do I move accounts between pages in a paginated account list?
When the account list spans pages, you can't use the arrows to move accounts within the hierarchy between pages. Instead, you can use the cut and paste function:
  1. Select the account that you want to move.
  2. Right-click and select
    Cut
    .
  3. Navigate to another page.
  4. Hover over, without clicking, the account that you want in the list before the moved account. Don't click it.
  5. Right-click and select
    Paste
. The account moves right after the account that you hovered over.
Why can't I change the account attribute of a child account?
When a parent account has an account attribute, all the child accounts must have the same account attribute. When you want the child accounts to have different attributes:
  1. From the account list, select the parent account.
  2. From the
    Account Attributes
    section, select
    None
for the attribute that you want to change and save. All child accounts retain the attribute that they had already.
  3. Save.
  4. Select the child account that you want to change.
  5. From the
    Account Attributes
section, select a different attribute vale and save. The 1 child account now has a different attribute than the siblings.
Why is the
Include GL or Custom Account
button disabled in the cube sheet accounts?
This means that:
  • You haven't set up any general ledger or custom accounts for cube entry.
  • You already added all accounts set up for cube entry to cube sheets.
To set up an account for cube entry:
  1. From
    Modeling
    , select
    General Ledger Accounts
    or
    Custom Accounts
    .
  2. Highlight the account that you want to add to the cube sheet.
  3. In the
    Sheets
    section, select
    Cube
    for
    Data Entry Type
    and save.
Why isn't the currency translation working in my custom accounts?
The currency translation isn't working because the account data isn't displaying as currency. To fix:
  1. From the
    Modeling
    area, click
    Custom Accounts
    .
  2. From the list, highlight the account.
  3. For
    Display As

    Currency
    .

How do I reverse the sign of an account without having to import the data again?
Changing the
Balance Type
setting to be the opposite of the root account is the fastest way to change the sign of an account. To avoid importing the data, you can adjust the values from the sheet view:
  1. Select
    Sheets
    from the main menu.
  2. Open the sheet that has the account.
  3. Right-click on the account column and select
    View by Level
    .
  4. Highlight all cells.
  5. Right-click and select
    Adjust
    .
  6. Select
    Apply Adjustment Individually
    .
  7. From the
    Increase
    drop-down menu, select
    Decrease
    .
  8. In the
    Enter value
    field, enter
    200
    .
  9. From the
    Value
    drop-down menu, select
    Percent
    .
  10. Click
    OK
    and save the sheet.
