Expand Parent Elements

  • An existing Google Sheets report with Adaptive Planning data.

After creating a report, you can use the
Expand
and
Collapse
options to see more or less data in the report without making changes to your underlying report definition. In a report, you can expand:
  • Multiple parent elements provided they aren’t on the same row or column.
  • Parent elements that you added to the report as part of other expansions.
  • Multiple parent elements in the rows and columns of the same report
The spreadsheet report is automatically updated to display the child elements next to the parent element that you expanded. The child elements remain until you collapse the parent element or make a change to your report definition.
  1. Open an existing Adaptive Planning report in Google Sheets.
  2. From the Google Sheets toolbar, click
    Extensions
    Workday for Google Sheets
    Workday
    .. The Workday add-on displays.
  3. In the spreadsheet report, select a cell with a parent element that you want to expand.
  4. In the Workday add-on, click
    Expand
    (icon with plus sign) and select an expansion option. Complete the task:
    Option Description
    Expand
    Displays only the immediate children of the selected parent element in the hierarchy.
    Expand All
    Displays all descendants of the selected parent element in the hierarchy.
    Expand to Leaf Level
    Displays only leaf-level descendants of the selected parent element in the hierarchy.
  5. (Optional) To collapse an expansion, select the same cell with the parent element that you expanded. In the Workday add-on, select
    Collapse
    (icon with minus sign).
