Build Adaptive Planning Reports in Google Sheets
- Install Workday for Google Sheets. See Install Workday for Google Sheets.
- Add Adaptive Planning tenants in Workday for Google Sheets. See: Add Tenants in Workday for Google Sheets (Adaptive Planning) or Add Tenants in Workday for Google Sheets (Workday)
- Verify you have a valid Google account.
- Security:Access to Workday for Google Sheetspermission.
In the Workday add-on, use the Report Builder sidebar to build reports. You can add elements to rows, columns, and filters to organize the data. When you refresh, the report displays Adaptive Planning data in a Google sheet. You can keep updating the report in the Report Builder by:
- Adding more elements to the rows, columns, or filters. To navigate and select elements from the element hierarchy, you can these keyboard keys:
- Shift plus click to select multiple elements.
- Up or down arrow keys to go up or down the hierarchy.
- Right-arrow key to expand a parent element.
- Left-arrow key to collapse a parent element.
- Rearranging the elements within or across rows, columns, and filters.
- Adding segments on rows and columns to organize or group the elements differently. This enables you to create more complex reports and have more control over how the data displays in the spreadsheet report. Segments are automatically numbered and you can move them within or across rows or columns. You can add a maximum of 10 segments in a single report.
Every report requires at least a time element and an account element. Based on your instance access, Workday for Google Sheets automatically applies these elements to the report:
- Level, Currency, and Version as filters.
- Time as a column.
- From the Google sheet toolbar, click . The Workday add-on displays.
- ClickBuild Report.
- Search for or expand and select the GL accounts or other elements that you want to add to your report. ClickAdd.
- ClickRefreshto update the spreadsheet with the report data.
- (Optional) To reorder elements within or across rows, columns, filters, click and drag using the drag handle. You can only drag the element type (not the element itself). The element moves along with the element type.Example: To move Budget 2025 fromFilterstoColumns, drag-and-drop theVersionelement type underColumns.
- (Optional) To add segments on rows or columns:
- ClickAdd(plus icon) and selectSegment.
- Use theplus( +) button on the new segment to add the elements that you want on that segment.
- ClickRefreshto see the changes in the spreadsheet report.
- (Optional) To add filters to the report:
- UnderFilters, clickAdd. A prompt displays the available element types.
- Select an element type such as Version.
- Select elements you want to add as filters (Actuals, Budget 2025). ClickAdd.
- (Optional). To delete an element from the report, hover on it and then selectDeletefrom theMore Actionsmenu.
