Create Templates from Reports

Clear the
Show report Information
report property so that the report data aligns properly when you use the template.
You can use existing reports to generate Excel templates to which you can add formatting such as:
  • Font color
  • Font type
  • Background colors
You can then attach these templates to reports that need additional formatting. When you create Excel templates:
  • Always add your customizations in new tabs.
  • Don't name the new tabs Report. In earlier versions of Adaptive Planning, we called the
    Report Data
      tab
    Report
    which can cause conflicts.
  • For repeating reports, add a formatting tab for each repeating tab of the report. Example: For a repeating report that repeats based on 10 levels in the organization structure, you need 20 tabs. A report data tab and a formatting tab per level.
  • Use dynamic references so that if you add rows to the report, you don't have to update the underlying template.
  • Before attaching to reports, clear all data from the
    Report Data
tab so as not to expose sensitive data.
  • If there are splits in the report, make sure to account for the fact that users can add splits at any time.
  • Depending on your users, create templates that are locale-specific or ask them to switch to the English locale.
  • Include macros for more advanced formatting in reports.
