Example: Create an Operational Expenses Report

This example illustrates how to create a report that displays operational expenses for a given time period and level.
You want to view your operational expenses for the current month and the year to date, focused on your Engineering level. You want your report viewers to be able to adjust which Engineering level data they view. You create a matrix report with operational expenses as the rows and current month and year-to-date as columns.
Security:
  • Access Reports
    permission.
  • Create Personal Reports
    permission.
  • Create Shared Reports
    permission.
  1. Select
    Reports
    from the main menu.
  2. Click
    Add New
    Matrix
    .
  3. From the
    Elements
    tab, expand and add these elements:
    • Operational Expenses account to the rows.
    • Period to Date and the current month time periods to the columns.
    • Engineering level into the
      Filters
      section.
  4. Right-click the Year to Date element and select
    Properties
    . Set the
    Year to date as of
    to the current month so year to date is consistent with current month. Click
    Apply
    .
  5. Drag and drop Level from the
    Filters
    section to the
    Parameters
    section.
  6. Click
    Run report
    to display the data in the report viewer.
  7. Save the report.
