Concept: Matrix Report Notes
Use notes to collaborate with others regarding the data in a report. Example: Notes can
explain variances or anomalies. You can add notes to the report without having edit
access to the report.
With report notes, you can:
- Add report notes to the entire report. Example: Provide a summary of the report.
- Add line notes to a row in a report.
- Add notes to reports with locked versions to collaborate on that report with other users.
Adding notes, appends your username, the date, and the levels on the report that you can
access.
Where Notes Display
Report notes display in the bottom panel of reports.
Inline notes display in the bottom panel, in a column, or in the row. Anyone can change how
inline notes display with the
Notes
button drop-down
menu.Notes for Reports Without Levels
Both line notes and report notes exist at a level. When reports don't have levels in the
columns or rows, your note attaches to the highest level you can access.
Notes for Reports with Levels
For report notes: When levels are on the columns or rows, your note attaches to all the
visible levels on the report.
For line notes: If the report has levels in the parameters, columns, or rows, line notes
display based on where the levels display.
Export Reports with Notes
When you export reports to Excel or PDF, all the notes you can access also export with the
report data. The export format that you select determines how the notes display in
the exported file:
- Download as Excel:Report notes display on a new Excel row next to the labelReport Notes. Line notes display in aNotecolumn or underFootnotesdepending on their display settings.To download to Excel, you need theDownload to Excelpermission.
- Download as PDF: Report notes display under the labelReport Notes. Line notes display underFootnotes.
