Example: Set Up Access for Administrators
Use permissions and access rules to set up the typical access necessary for administrators.
The administrator must:
- Access all areas of the model.
- Change the structure of the model.
- Edit all data.
To set up access:
- Assign all permissions available.
- Grant edit access to all data.
- Security:
- Userspermission.
- Permission Setspermission.
- SelectAdministrationfrom the main menu.
- ClickPermission Sets.
- ClickNew Permission Set.
- As you complete the form, consider:
Option Description Permission Set NameEnterAdmin Role.Set Using TemplateClickPower User.Remaining check boxesSelect any unchecked check boxes. Selecting all permissions enables your admins to complete any task in the model and access any area from the main menu. - ClickSubmit.
- From the breadcrumbs, clickAdministration.
- ClickUsers.
- ClickNew User.
- As you complete the form, consider:

- From the breadcrumbs, clickAdministration.
- ClickAccess Rules.
- From the toolbar, clickImport.
- From the dialog, select theDownload Templatelink.
- Open the file and select the second sheet.
- As you complete the columns for the row, consider:
Option Description Access TypeEnterEdit.UsernameEnteradmin@company.com.Level (Grant)Enter(+)to grant access to all levels in the model.Product (Grant)Enter(+)to grant access to all the dimension values for Product. - Save the template asNew Access Rules.
- Return .
- From the toolbar, clickImport.
- SelectUpdate and Append.
- Click the cloud to upload theNew Access Rulesspreadsheet from your computer folders.
- ClickDone.The access grants the ability to edit all data in the model.
