Adaptive Planning

The

Optimize report execution

matrix report property is enabled by default for an instance for improved performance. You can disable the property for a given report to preserve the nonoptimized report behavior. See The Next Level: All Things 2023R2 for Adaptive Planning, Reporting, and Prism Analytics

With the report property enabled, some matrix reports can still experience slower performance if they use specific features or accounts.

Matrix reports can behave differently based on these configurations:

You've selected the

The reports include the features and accounts that support optimization.

To generate reports that include accounts with reclassification rules, unselect the

Empty Version Folders	Reports don't display labels for time and account elements that are associated with empty version folders.	Reports display labels for time and account elements that are associated with empty version folders.
Difference Calculation	Reports display blanks for difference calculations under these conditions: The elements for which you're calculating the difference produces zero as the result. You select to display the difference calculation in percent.	Reports display zero percent (zero%) for difference calculations under these conditions.
Rollup Formatting	Roll up formatting that you define in element properties applies to both header and data cells.	Roll up formatting that you define in element properties only applies to data cells.

Empty Version Folders	Reports display empty version folders under these conditions: The empty version folders in your model include one or more elements. Account Groups	Reports display account groups and all empty child accounts rows.	Reports display only account groups without displaying empty child accounts rows.
Multiple Segments and Tiers	Reports display an extra header with blank space for a segment when you apply: Multiple segments and tiers. An account in the first segment with no data. Suppress rollups.	Reports display nothing for the first segment where the account has no data.
Cube Assumption Account and Levels	Reports display cube assumption account for only these elements when you add parent level elements to the rows: (Only) (Rollup)	Report displays cube assumption account for all elements in the level hierarchy. The behavior applies irrespective of the Appears setting for cube assumption account in the cube sheet.
Cube Assumption Account and Level Attribute	Reports display this error message when you add a cube assumption account and a level attribute element: Error occurred while processing report. You have suppressed rows, columns, or both with all zeros or blanks.	Reports display rollup values from levels matching the attribute.
Dimension Splits and Timespan Account	Reports don't display rows and values for splits for certain combination of dimensions with a Timespan account as described below. You configure your model sheet to: Allow split for a custom dimension such as Product. Not allow split for another custom dimension such as Region. Not allow split for TimeSpan account. You configure your report to: Add a custom dimension element such as Product for which you enable splits in the sheets. Add another custom dimension element such as Region for which split is unchecked in sheets. Add a Timespan account for which split is unchecked in sheets.	Reports display rows and values for dimensions with splits.
Modeled Accounts and Labels	When you define labels in the element properties, reports inconsistently display: Labels for parent modeled accounts. No Labels for parent nonmodeled accounts.	Reports consistently don't display labels for both parent modeled and parent nonmodeled accounts.
Level Attributes in Filters	Reports display data for all levels irrespective of filters when you include these elements: Accounts and levels in rows or columns. Level attributes in rows or columns. In-Tier Difference Calculation	Reports don't display the difference calculation for a subtotal element for in-tier calculations.	Reports display the difference calculation for a subtotal element for in-tier calculations.

Dimension Values in Plan Versions Versus Actual Versions	Reports don't display rows for dimension values that are unavailable in the plan versions for actual time periods under these conditions: You select the option to suppress zeros or blanks for rows and columns. You include the parent element of the dimension that contains the unavailable dimension values. You select the Always expanded option for the parent element. The account has values that are unavailable in the plan version for the actual time periods.	Reports display rows for dimension values that are unavailable in plan versions for actual time periods under these conditions.
Uncategorized Dimension Elements	Reports display dimension labels for uncategorized dimension elements when you select the Suppress rollups option in report properties. Total Rollup for Dimensions	Reports don't display rows for unmapped dimension values in the dimension total rollup section when: Reports include dimensions and corresponding dimension attributes. Dimension values don't map to the dimension attributes.	Reports display rows for all combinations of dimension values and dimension attribute values (mapped and unmapped) in the dimension total rollup section.
Level Attributes and Custom Rollups for Metric Accounts	Reports display rows for unmapped level attributes under these conditions: You create custom rollups of metric accounts. The custom rollups include level parameters.	Reports display rows for only mapped level attributes under these conditions.
Dimensions, Dimension Attributes, and Metric Accounts	Reports don’t display rows for combinations of dimension values and dimension attribute values of another dimension with metric accounts.	Reports display rows for these combinations.
Cube Metric Accounts, Level Dimensions, and Cube Sheets	Reports display rows only for uncategorized level dimension values for level rollups under these conditions: The reports include cube metric accounts, levels, and level dimensions. The level dimensions aren’t available in the cube sheets that include the cube metric accounts.	Reports display rows for all level dimension values that map to levels for the level rollups under these conditions.
Multiple Time Periods in Timespan	Reports display cell notes from one of the time periods when: You don't include a Time element. You include the Timespan element with multiple periods.	Reports don’t display cell notes.

Repeating Reports with Levels in Filters and Level Attributes in both Columns and Sheet Tabs	Reports display level attribute columns that map to the levels in the filter, which don’t map to the level attributes in sheet tabs. In the Cell Explorer window, the values you see with report optimization are still the same as the values you see without optimization.

Metric Accounts and Rollup Function for Custom Calculations	Rollup functions for custom calculations of metric accounts first evaluate the account formulas for each parameter in the rollup functions and then sum them up. This happens for rollup functions with parameters including different: Time periods Levels Dimension values	Rollup functions for custom calculations of metric accounts first calculate the aggregate values for each individual formula component across parameters in the rollup functions. Next, they evaluate the final value according to the account formula based on the aggregated values of individual formula components.
Metric Accounts and Level Dimensions	Reports inconsistently return zeros for metric accounts for leaf-level values of level dimensions.	Reports accurately calculate metric accounts for leaf-level values of level dimensions.

Custom Account Setting, Weight Account, and Actual Version with Multiple Child Versions	Reports apply the weighted average of rollup values at the parent actual value, when: You add a custom account with the Level/Dimension Rollup option set to Weighted average of roll up values The weight account is a calculated account in a modeled sheet. The actual version includes multiple child versions.	Reports treat the leaf level as a rollup location and apply the weighted average logic.
