Report on Dimension Hierarchies Using Effective Date
Enable OfficeConnect for Workday Financial Management (Financials) data source.
The
Effective Date
capability is available only to the Financials data source. When you select an effective date, you can:
- Report on dimensions as they're organized into hierarchies on that date.
- Do what-if analysis using scenarios.
You can select from these types of effective dates:
- Dynamic dates. The actual date can display in parentheses for these dynamic dates:
- Current Date
- Prior Period End date
- Prior Summary Period End Date
- Commonly used static dates based on the fiscal and summary schedule that your administrator defines in the financial reporting data model. Examples:
- Summary schedule end dates for the last 2 years.
- Posting period end dates for the last 12 months.
- Custom static dates that your administrator specifies in the financial reporting data model to represent specific events for the company. Example: Future or past dates that coincide with major reorganizations.
Static dates remain the same regardless of the current date. OfficeConnect lists them in reverse chronological order following the dynamic dates.
The effective dates list changes over time and older effective dates can become unavailable. When you open a:
- New workbook, it uses the default effective date that your administrator specifies in the financial reporting data model. You can change this date and save the workbook to retain the new effective date.
- Saved workbook, you can still run and refresh it even if the list no longer displays the effective date.
- Run an existing report or create one.
- From theEffective Dateprompt, select a date.OfficeConnect loads the elements based on your selection.
- Refresh the report.

- Select the cell where you want to display the label.
- ClickLabelsand select theModellabel type.
