Write Back from OfficeConnect to Adaptive Planning
- The latest version of OfficeConnect.
- Security:Writeback from External Sourcespermission.
From valid leaf-level intersections in OfficeConnect reports, you can submit data edits back to Adaptive Planning. Based on the access rules configured for your instance, you can write back to specific levels, accounts, custom dimensions, and attributes.
The ability to submit edits from OfficeConnect, enables you to:
- Update your planning data without leaving Excel.
- Use Excel capabilities such as formulas and copy and paste functions.
In writeback mode, you can only edit and submit changes for these supported elements:
- Accounts: Cube, Custom, GL, and Assumption.
- Levels: Leaf levels only.
- Versions: Actuals, plan, and scenario versions.
- Calendars: Default calendars only. Time rollups aren't supported for Writeback.
- Dimensions: For cube accounts, all dimensions present on the sheet must also display on the report.
- Attributes: Dimension attributes and their corresponding dimensions that are present on the sheet must also display on the report.
Writeback doesn't support accounts with splits. If you're unable to enter Writeback mode, check the underlying sheets to see if they have splits on their accounts.
When you update sheet intersections using the OfficeConnect Writeback options, Audit Trail tracks these changes.
When using OfficeConnect Writeback, we recommend that you don't use Excel Interface for Planning (EIP) at the same time. Currently there are some issues including the need to authenticate to both add-ins separately. We're planning to address these issues in a future release.
