FAQ: Calendars
- How can I change my default calendar pay periods to twice a month instead of biweekly?
- You can map the 1st-15th and 16th-30th or 31st of every month to a pay period rollup. It's easiest to do this if you have Days as a time strata already. You can import the change to your default calendar using theUpdateoption.
- How does changing the default structure change my historical data?
- When you add new strata to the default calendar structure, you can use theUpdateimport option to maintain existing data. When you also want to change the default strata, you must either:
- Use theReloadimport option. TheReloadoption deletes data in all locked and unlocked versions. You can export your data from all versions and reload it after you change the calendar.
- Manually delete standard data before changing the default. Standard data includes these accounts: general ledger, custom, metric, and assumptions.
- What are the best ways to change the structure of default calendars when data already exists?
- As long as you don't change the default strata, you can add or change any time strata without losing your data.
- How can I create an alternate calendar that skips just some of the default rollups?
- Your alternate calendar can still roll up to a year, but it must be an alternate year. Once you skip a rollup, you must create alternate rollups after the fork strata. Example: The default calendar is Month > Quarter > Year. An alternate calendar without quarters must be Month > Alternate Year.
- How do I extend the structure of my calendar?
- Add the rollup to your default calendar using theUpdateoption. Example: Add Decade to a Month > Quarter > Year calendar without affecting data or adding an alternate calendar.
- How do alternate rollups work for general ledger accounts that link to cube sheets and modeled sheets with different default strata?
- Make sure that the alternate rollup is the same as or larger than your default time strata for the general ledger. Example: Your default time strata is Month. Your cube sheet strata is Week, and your modeled sheet is Week. Include Month in your alternate calendar.
- Can I plan by hour?
- We have limitations on how many leaf level cells display for time. Planning by hours would exceed these maximums.
- How can I split strata between rollups?
- In a Week > Month structure, a week often covers days at the end of 1 month and the beginning of the next. You can't split this week between the 2 rollups. Each week must map to 1 month, which must map to 1 quarter, and so on. As a result, days in January might map to the February rollup.Day > Month structures enable you to roll each day to its proper calendar month.
- Can I sync my Workday Calendars with Planning?
- We currently don’t have any sync processes with Workday calendars.
