Reference: Advanced Workflow Task and Participating Level Statuses

We display these task and level statuses when you:

Status	Displays for These Task Types	Description
Not Ready	To-do Submit Approve Hierarchy Submit	We haven’t sent the notification and My Tasks item to assignees for to-do, submit, and hierarchy submit tasks because the preceding task is still being worked on. Approvers and submitters on higher hierarchy levels receive their notification and My Tasks item if at least 1 participating level is available for them to take action. To-do, submit, and hierarchy submit task assignees can’t view or take action on the task. If approvers or assignees on higher hierarchy levels own multiple participating levels on their task, they see the Not Ready status but can only take action on levels without the Not Ready status.
In Progress	To-do Submit Hierarchy Submit	Assignees received their notifications and My Tasks item. Assignees can take action on the task.
Submitted	Submit Hierarchy Submit	Assignees submitted the level for approval. We sent a notification and My Tasks item to the assignees.
Pending Approval	Approve	Assignees submitted the level for approval. And this level is now pending approval by the assignees. We sent a notification and My Tasks item to the assignees on the relevant approve task.
Approved	Approve	The approve task for this level was completed. If additional approve tasks exist after this approve task, we don’t display the Approved status for those next assignees. Instead, we display Pending Approval and those additional approvers can approve the level.
Sent Back	Approve Hierarchy Submit	Assignees on this task sent back this level to the lower hierarchy level submitter, submitter, or approver directly before them. That submitter or approver can take action again on their task, which displays as: In Progress again for submitters. Pending Approval again for the previous approvers.
Completed	To-do	This to-do task was marked as completed by the assignees. If a task exists after this task, we sent the notification and My Tasks items.
