Concept: Perspective Snapshots

Perspective snapshots are static images of all dashboards and charts in the perspective. Snapshots capture a static view of data within parameters that the creator defines. Snapshots don't change even when others update the data later.
Anyone with access to Adaptive Planning, Workday HCM, or Workday Financials can receive a snapshot.

List of Snapshots

You can click
Snapshots
from Dashboards to view a list of snapshots that you created and shared. From the list of snapshots, you can view snapshots that others shared with you when you have the
View Snapshot
permission.
From the folder, you can find this information about each snapshot:
  • The name given to the snapshot.
  • The username of the person who sent the snapshot.
  • The date of the snapshot.
  • The number of people who received each snapshot excluding the person sending the snapshot.
  • Parameters, such as time, level, and currency.

Schedules

You can click
Schedules
to view all the snapshots you’ve scheduled. From the list of schedules, you can:
  • Pause or delete the scheduled snapshot.
  • Go back to the live perspective.

Sharing Snapshots

As the creator of a perspective, you can create and send recurring or one-time snapshots. As the owner or the receiver of a snapshot, you can:
  • View the sent snapshot.
  • View a list of sent and received snapshots from
    Dashboards
    Snapshots
    .
When you share snapshots, users receive a link in their email. They can click the link to download the PDF of the snapshot to their computer.

Snapshots for Different Audiences

You can set up perspective context filters, and create snapshots for each filtered view. Then, you can deliver different data stories to different audiences all from a single perspective.
Example: Send Company Summary snapshots individually to the CEO, CFO, and VPs of divisional sales by setting up filters on the perspective that targets their business interests.

When you create snapshot schedules, the schedule remembers the filters and sends snapshots based on those filters. The sent snapshot records the filters on the title page to give the recipients context on the content.
