Example: Set Up Access Rules for Financial Analyst

Create a set of access rules for the Financial Analyst.

The Financial Analyst has contributor permissions. You must create access rules for the Financial Analyst that enables them to:

Edit data in all accounts at the Finance level.

Edit salary details only at Finance level.

View the summary data of the salary expense company-wide in the general ledger.

Information about the model:

Salary account in the sheet links to the Salary account in the general ledger. The Salary Detail setting for the sheet is on. This setting means you need the Salary Detail permission to open the sheet.

Assign the Contributor
permission set to the Financial Analyst. See Example: Create a Permission Set and Assign to Contributors.

Save your access rules in a spreadsheet called New Access Rules
. You have already created access rules for admin and the CEO.

Security: Users
permission.

Open the New Access Rule
spreadsheet from your computer.

As you complete columns of the next blank row, consider:

Username	Enter fin.analyst@company.com .
Level (Grant)	Enter Finance .
Account (Grant)	Enter (+) to grant edit access to all accounts at the Finance level.
Product (Grant)	Enter (+) to grant edit access to all products at the Finance level.

As you complete the columns of the next blank row, consider:

Account (Grant All Except)	Enter Personnel to restrict access to all accounts in the Peronnel sheet at all levels, except Finance. Finance level is an exception based on the previous rule. The Financial Analyst can still view the rollup data of the Salary in the general ledger.
Product (Grant)	Enter (+) to grant access to all products.

Save the spreadsheet.
