Concept: Question Rewording and Retaining Benchmark
Context
In Peakon, administrators often modify standard Peakon questions to align with their organization’s context. However, retaining the integrity of the benchmarks is crucial for maintaining reliable data. We recommend using the platform’s validated questions, as these questions are developed and tested using professional standards and statistical techniques. The data gathered from these questions contributes to a benchmark set with over 1 billion data points.
Certain rewording changes may significantly affect the quality, reliability, and stability of Peakon’s benchmarks, which could impact benchmark comparisons.
Appropriate Rewording
To maintain the integrity of benchmark comparisons and preserve benchmark reliability, avoid changes that could impact their validity.
- Match the language of the business: You can modify a question to match your organization’s terminology without impacting benchmark validity. These might be common referrants. Example: manager, team, organization.

- Removal of Parentheses: You can remove parenthetical terms if they are universally understood within your organization. However, consider cultural differences and organizational definitions before making these changes, especially for Diversity & Inclusion questions. Based on how your organization defines 'X term,' consider whether removing or keeping the parentheses would impact how each employee interprets it.
For Diversity & Inclusion questions, parenthetical examples were included particularly for languages where there is no direct translation of the term “diverse/diversity" in this context.
Invalid Rewording
- Altering the subject: Modifying the subject of a question shifts how the users respond to a question and affects benchmark validity.
