Concept: Survey and Segment Branding

Background

Branding ensures that each employee receives a survey that's branded in line with the company that they recognize as their employer, rather than an unfamiliar parent company or a third party product.
Branding enables you to:
  • Override the company name and logo with segment names and logos of a specific attribute. Example: You can create an Entity attribute with a segment named after each entity in your organization.
  • Override the survey name in the survey email, by adding a subject line prefix to make it more recognizable for employees. Example: If you gave your survey the name Your Voice, the email subject will be: "Your Voice: [subject line text]."
  • Add a survey logo, in addition to the company logo. Example: If you created a survey logo for your internal survey marketing, you can set this logo as your survey logo. In that case, the survey logo displays in place of the company logo, and the company logo displays in the top right corner of the survey.

Configuration

You can apply branding to all survey schedules, or only selected survey schedules.
It's possible to apply branding in 2 different ways:
  • Enabling segment branding on an entire attribute replaces the company name and logo with segment names and logos across all surveys. You can configure segment branding on each attribute in
    Administration
    Attributes
. If you have enabled branding on multiple attributes, the survey will only brand segments from the attribute that you branded first.
  • Creating a branding item for a survey schedule enables you to override the survey name, add a survey logo, and replace the company name and logo with the name and logo of the target segment. You must create a branding item for each survey schedule that you want to brand in
    Administration
    Branding
. It's only possible to have 1 branding item per schedule.
If you have enabled branding on multiple attributes, the survey will only brand segments from the attribute that you branded first.

Recommendation

We only recommend using segment branding if your organization has distinct brands or subsidiaries. Always consider the branding that employees would most relate to and recognize.
If you have a survey name and a logo, as well as distinct subsidiaries, we recommend using survey branding instead.
We recommend using only one attribute for branding segments. Using multiple attributes for segment branding is not recommended and may lead to unexpected or inconsistent results.

Fallback Logic

Branding can often be a combination of multiple settings, depending on the desired outcome. Peakon uses fallback logic when certain information is missing from your branding configuration.
  • If you create a branding item for a survey schedule, and leave the
    Override name
    and
    Survey logo
settings blank, the fallback is the survey name and logo from the
    Company
    branding item, if available.
  • If you enable
    Target branding
    in
    Administration
    Branding
without adding logos to the branded segments, the fallback is the company name and logo.
  • If you enable
    Segment branding
    in
    Administration
    Attributes
without adding logos to the branded segments, the logo will be an abbreviation of the segment name.
