Enable Deployment Agent Ask Skill

Enable Deployment Agent Ask Skill

  • Have access to the tenants in which you want to use the Deployment Agent Ask skill:
    • Implementation
    • Sandbox
    • Preview
    • Customer Central (for inspecting connected tenants)
  • Configure security and register the Deployment Agent in each non Production tenant where you plan to use the Ask skill. For initial setup, see Set Up Deployment Agent in Implementation Environments and Customer Central.
To enable the Deployment Agent Ask skill to discover live configuration data in your implementation tenants or connected tenants through Customer Central, you must enable the underlying Tenant Inspection ASOR skill using the
Agent Management Hub
. This specific ASOR skill performs the actual read-only inspection of your environment. Workday also recommends enabling the Implementation Knowledge skill. Though it doesn't read live data, it provides the essential documentation guidance you need to answer questions.
To ensure your enabled skills remain active after Sandbox tenant refreshes, set up the Deployment Agent in your Production tenant. Your configuration persists to Sandbox tenants during standard refresh cycles, though Workday permanently deletes chat histories after a refresh.
  1. Sign in to the tenant in which you want to use the Deployment Agent with the Ask skill.
  2. Access the
    Agent Management Hub
    report.
  3. Select the
    Agent Registry
    section.
  4. Select
    Deployment Agent
    .
If you don’t see the Deployment Agent, ensure that it’s a registered agent:
    1. Select the
      Unregistered Workday Agent
      tab.
    2. Locate the
      Deployment Agent
      in the list and click
      Register
      .
    3. Select the
      Confirm
      check box and click
      OK
      .
The Deployment Agent now displays on the
    Agent Registry
tab, where you can select it.
  5. On the Deployment Agent profile, click
    Configure Agent
    .
  6. In the
    Status
column, use the toggle to enable the Tenant Inspection skill. To enable all Ask skill capabilities, also enable the Implementation Knowledge skill.
  7. In the
    Available To
column for each skill, select the security groups to which you want to grant access.
The security groups you add establish the interaction policy of the agent. Workday evaluates user access to both the agent itself and the underlying APIs the agent uses.
Ensure the security group you add also belongs to the
    Deployment Agent Users
domain security policy. Workday displays an error message when the security group you add here isn’t part of this policy. Users in the security group won't have access to the Deployment Agent in the tenant.
    We recommend using the
    View Security for Agent Skill
report to ensure the security groups you select also have the necessary permissions for the agent to function correctly.
  8. Click
    Save
    or
    Activate
(if the agent hasn’t yet been activated).
Workday displays the Workday Chat icon in the global navigation and removes the Workday Assistant chat bubble to reduce duplication.
The Deployment Agent currently lacks UI indicators to show a skill is active. To verify that you successfully enabled the Tenant Inspection Ask skill, submit a prompt that requires the Deployment Agent to retrieve configuration information.
Example:
Find me 5 calculation fields in the Implementation tenant
.
Verify the agent's response using the
View Calculated Field
task.
