Concept: Tax Management
On the
Manage Taxes
() page, you can:
- Add and edit tax percentages.
- Enable and set tax settings.
- Exempt entire countries from supplier tax calculations.
- Determine how the MSP program fee taxes are managed, regardless of who manages the supplier tax rate.
If you choose to manage taxes using Workday VNDLY, you can configure these roles to manage taxes:
- The MSP/Program Team.
- Vendors.
Users must have the
settings.admin
permission to access tax management data.Work Sites
You can configure tax rates for these authorities on the
Manage Taxes
page:
- Country.
- State or province.
- County.
- Local.
- Special.
Avalara, a third-party software, retrieves the default U.S. tax tables, which are updated on a quarterly basis.
You can view work sites:
- All together, regardless of country location, with their default tax rates.
- By country. Workday VNDLY automatically groups invoices by tax countries and currency. You can pin a country you regularly interact with to the top of the list by pointing to the country name and selecting the pin icon.
Workday VNDLY uses the most granular tax rate level defined for work orders.
Examples:
- If a different tax rate exists for a work site in the associated work order, the work order tax rate supersedes the tax rates defined at the work site and sub-division levels.
- If a different tax rate exists on the work site and on the sub-division (like state or county), the work site tax rate supersedes the state or county tax rate.
You can also:
- Create active overrides.
- Filter the work site list by:
- Work sites with a scheduled change.
- Work sites that have changed from the default rate.
- Work sites that haven't changed from the default rate.
- Schedule overrides, which you can modify or review.
- Schedule future tax rate changes based on upcoming compliance changes.
- Review the Activity Log for any changes to work site tax rates.
Imports and Exports
You can import and export relevant work site tax data.
Select
Upload
to:
- Add files. Workday VNDLY currently only supports CSV file types.
- Download a template to ensure your data is an acceptable format.
- View any pending uploads.
You can export all work sites or a filtered set.
Reporting
You can use these Workday VNDLY-delivered datasets to build custom reports of tax-related data:
- Current Work Site Taxes.
- Default Tax Rates.
- Tax Codes.
- Work Order Taxes.
