Create Grid Configurations for Grade Rosters

domain in the System functional area.
You can create a custom grid for your students' interim and final grade rosters for your grade roster policy orat the course level. You can use this task to:
  • Add and remove fields to display on the grade roster.
  • Create a composite column with multiple pieces of information in a single cell, such as the student name, pronoun, expected completion date, and photo.
  • Use report fields and calculated fields to display information on the grade roster.
  1. Access the
    Create Grid Configuration
    task.
  2. Select
    Create Blank Configurable Grid
    and enter a
    Name
    .
  3. From the
    What type of grid do you want to create?
    prompt, select
    Grade Roster Grid Configuration Context
    .
  4. (Optional) Configure the
    Composite Column
    . Select the
    Include Composite Column
    check box and enter the title in the
    Label
    prompt.
  5. Select a
    Business Object
    and a related
    Field
    for
    Title
    ,
    First Subtitle
    ,
    Second Subtitle
    , or
    Image
    .
    Workday uses
    Student Course Registration
    as the primary business object. You can use fields from related business objects, including calculated fields.
  6. Configure the
    Individual Columns
    . Enter
    Content Type
    ,
    Field
    , and an optional
    Label Override
    .
    Workday displays the individual columns to the right of a composite column. You can only select
    Read Only
    as
    Content Type
    for an individual column.
Workday displays the fields that you configure to the left of the existing fields on the interim and final grade rosters.These tasks display your custom grid configurations instead of the grade roster policy and Workday-delivered fields:
  • Assign Student Grades for Student Course Section
  • Assign Student Interim Grade for Student Course Section
This example illustrates how you can create a custom grid for interim grade rosters using the
Create Grid Configuration
task.

Assign the configured grid to the interim and final grading rosters for an academic unit and academic level using the
Maintain Grade Roster Configuration Policy
task. You can also assign the grid to a course section definition.
You can also use the
Edit Grid Configuration
task to make changes to existing configuration. When you edit a grid configuration used in a grade roster policy, Workday updates all the grade rosters immediately. If you want to edit a grid configuration and not update the policy, you should create a new grid configuration.
