Concept: Grade Point Averages
Workday calculates grade point averages to help you measure a student's success in their courses. Workday calculates GPAs according to your configurations, but you can also override them using the
Maintain Cumulative GPA Overrides for Student
task. Workday derives all GPAs, except the Program of Study GPA, on the Academic Period Record business object when a user accesses a page with a GPA or runs a custom report using a GPA field.
We calculate the Program of Study GPA when you generate the
Academic Progress report and save it (?) on the Academic Period business object.Registration Type | Description |

Attempted/Earned/Included in GPA
Workday classifies courses as either
Attempted
, Earned
, or Included in GPA
.Attempted
courses
are registrations with a grade that doesn't have an audit grade category type assigned or the grade isn't factored into the GPA. Earned
courses are registrations without an audited grade that are also marked as Earns Credit
. When contained in a repeat record, the registration must be live in order to be considered earned and to be included in the GPA. When the Leave Past Periods Unchanged
check box on the Create Course Repeat Rule Set
task
is true, then the registration can be the
derived live registration and Workday includes it in the GPA. Earned
courses don’t include registrations with acredit loss reason.
Courses
Included in GPA
are registrations without an audited grade that are also marked as as Include in GPA
on the Create Student Grading Scheme
task. When contained in a repeat record,
the registration must be considered the live registration or derived live registration when the Leave Past Periods Unchanged
check box on the Create Course Repeat Rule Set
task
is true. When the Include All Repeat Registrations in GPA
check box is true, Workday includes all registrations
whether or not they’re live.
