Place Students in Collections or Active Bankruptcies

  • Create Student Messages in the
    Student Financials
    category to use for
    Student Collections
    .
  • Security:
    • Manage: Student Financial Accounts
      domain in the Student Financials functional area.
    • Manage: Student Collections
      domain in the Student Financials functional area.
You can track:
  • Student Bankruptcy.
  • Collection efforts for students with past due charges.
  1. Access the
    Find Students with Past Due Charges
    report.
  2. From the related actions menu of a student, select
    Financials
    Maintain Collection Tracking History
    .
  3. As you complete the task, consider:
    Option Description
    Collection Status
    Select
    Active
    .
    Assigned Collector
    (Optional) Select the person responsible for the student's collections.
    Active Bankruptcy
    When selected, this check box automatically selects the
    Exclude from Notifications
    check box.
    Exclude from Notifications
    Select to block:
    • Systematic collections communications with the student
    • Soft Drops
    • Proactive Notifications
    • Past Due Balance Holds
    • Past Due Hold Notifications
    Example: Cease collection notifications for students in bankruptcy.
    When selected, Workday:
    • Removes
      Send Ad Hoc Engagement
      as an action you can take from the
      Maintain Collection Tracking History
      task.
    • Doesn't prevent you from sending emails and other notifications to the student.
    You’re responsible for withholding relevant notifications from the student.
  4. (Optional) In the
    Collection Tracking
    grid, record the steps you've taken to collect on the student's past due charges.
    Workday adds rows when you:
    • Create collection agreements.
    • Cancel collection agreements.
    • Send engagement items related to collection agreements.
    • Change the current collection agency.
    • Write off student charges.
  5. (Optional) On the
    Documents
    tab, click
    Add
    to include new documents for collection or bankruptcy tracking.
You can return to the
Maintain Collection Tracking History
task to record additional:
  • Calls
  • Emails
  • Letters
  • Collection efforts
