Example: Grant Managers of Students Access to Worker Data

This example illustrates how to add a security segment to an existing student segment-based security group, enabling managers to view student worker data.
The project manager at your institution, Elise, is completing a project for campus server upgrades and needs to hire some students as summer interns. These students have both student and worker profiles that Elise needs to view. Elise's security group access in Workday only enables her to view and edit student and student prospect data but not worker person data. To enable Elise to view and edit worker person data, you need to grant her security group access to the Worker segment.
Create a segment-based security group called
IT Support Team
 that enables managers to view student and student prospect data.
Opt in to the Segment Security Fix for Multiple Person Types feature.
Security:
Security Configuration
 domain in the System functional area.
  1. Access the
    Edit Security Group
     task.
  2. From the
    Tenanted Security Group
     prompt, select
    Security Groups
    Segment-Based Security Groups
    IT Support Team
    .
  3. Click
    OK
    .
  4. From the
    Access to Segments
     prompt, select
    Security Segments (Workday Owned)
    Role Security Segment
    Worker
    .
  5. Click
    OK
     and
    Done
    .
