Override Adverse NSLDS Flags

Students who have attended other institutions might have a financial aid history that affects their eligibility for federal student aid. Example: Students might not be eligible if they:

Owe an overpayment on a federal grant or loan.

Default on a federal loan.

Have been convicted of fraud in obtaining federal student aid funds.

A student's Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) and National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) record flags them when they aren't eligible for federal student aid. When you process an ISIR or NSLDS transaction for the student, Workday automatically places holds on them to prevent need packaging and disbursements.

When the student restores their eligibility (Example: They repay their overpayment) and you import their updated ISIR or NSLDS record, Workday removes their holds. If you need to package and disburse financial aid for the student before their records officially update, you can manually override the student's adverse NSLDS flag.

Access the

Overview

report on the Financial Aid profile group of the student's profile.

Expand the

Financial Aid Award Years

section, then expand the section for the relevant award year.

From the related actions menu of the

Adverse NSLDS Override

field, select

Adverse NSLDS Override

Edit

Select the flag to override.

Workday removes the disbursement and need packaging holds from the student and displays an adverse NSLDS override on the student's financial aid record. If you then import an updated ISIR or NSLDS record that no longer flags an adverse NLSDS issue for the student, Workday clears the override.
