Steps: Set Up Federal Entity IDs

Create locations with a usage of
Campus
.
Map your academic units and locations to the federal entity identifiers that the U.S. Department of Education assigned to you. The federal entity identifiers enable you to exchange information with federal higher education organizations and databases, including:
  • Common Origination and Disbursement (COD)
  • FAFSA Processing System (FPS)
  • National Student Clearinghouse (NSC)
The Department of Education renamed the Central Processing System (CPS) as the FAFSA Processing System (FPS), effective from the 2024-2025 award year.
  1. Access the
    Create OPEID
     task.
    Map campus locations to Office of Postsecondary Education Identifiers (OPEIDs). The 6-digit OPEID number of your institution and the 2-digit branch code of each branch location together make up the 8-digit number used for COD and NSC reporting.

  2. Access the
    Create Federal School Code
     task.
    Associate a federal school code with a TG number.

  3. Access the
    Maintain Federal School Code Policy
     task.
    Assign the federal school code to an academic unit and level.

  4. Access the
    Maintain COD Routing ID Policy
     task.
    Configure the structure of entity identifiers for COD processing for an academic unit and academic level.

When you run an outbound integration, Workday derives the necessary federal entity identifiers based on the policies of the academic unit for which you're running the integration.
