Set Up COD Loan Limit Exceptions

In accordance with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) for financial aid award years 2026-2027, 2027-2028, and 2028-2029, Workday enables you to manage the Legacy Borrower classification that drives the borrower’s limits for subsidized, unsubsidized, PLUS loans.
You can use the
Maintain COD Loan Limit Exception
task to identify a student as a legacy borrower eligible for pre-OBBBA loan limits. To upload and set student statuses in bulk, you can use the
Import COD Loan Limit Exception
web service.
  1. From the related actions menu of a student’s financial aid period record for financial aid award years 2026-2027, 2027-2028, or 2028-2029, select
    Financial Aid Period Record > Maintain COD Loan Limit Exception
    .
  2. Select the
    COD Loan Limit Exception
    check box to identify the student as a legacy borrower. The exception applies to all listed academic periods.
  3. Click
    OK
    .
  • Run the
    COD Loan Limit Exception
    report or your institutional report to view students identified as legacy borrowers.
  • If a student is no longer considered a legacy borrower, clear the selection on the
    Maintain COD Loan Limit Exception
    task or use the
    Import COD Loan Limit Exception
    web service to update the record.
