Example: Create Custom Reports for Criteria-Based Cohorts

This example illustrates 1 way to create a custom report to define the criteria for a criteria-based cohort.
In the College of Arts and Sciences, you want to:
  • Create a cohort of undergraduate students with an academic standing of Dean's List.
  • Populate the cohort automatically using a custom report.
Security: These domains in the System functional area:
  • Custom Report Creation
  • Manage: All Custom Reports
  • Report Tag Management
  1. Access the
    Create Custom Report
    task.
  2. Select
    Advanced
    for
    Report Type
    .
  3. Select
    Academic Records
    for
    Data Source
    .
  4. Select
    Optimized for Performance
    .
  5. Click
    OK
    .
  6. On the
    Columns
    tab, add 5 rows with these values in the top grid:

    Value
    Business Object
    Academic Record
    Field
    • Academic Record
    • Academic Unit (Computed)
    • Academic Level
    • Student Record Locked
    • Latest Academic Standing
  7. On the
    Filter on Instances
    grid on the
    Filter
    tab, add these 4 rows:
    And/Or
    Field
    Operator
    Comparison Type
    Comparison Value
    And
    Academic Unit (Computed)
    exact match with the selection list
    Value specified in this filter
    College of Arts and Sciences
    And
    Academic Level
    exact match with the selection list
    Value specified in this filter
    Undergraduate

    Value specified in this filter
    Unchecked
    And
    Latest Academic Standing
    in the selection list
    Value specified in this filter
    Dean's List
  8. Click
    OK
    .
You can now select this custom report on the
Create Student Cohort
task.
Access the
Create Student Cohort
task to create a criteria-based cohort with this custom report.
