Add Charts to Report Designs
Create a report design file.
Charts are a useful way to represent data or the relationships between sets of data. Report
Designer offers a variety of ways to chart your data, and it is important that you
choose the correct type. For example, a particular set of data might work best when
presented as a bar chart.
- To add a chart to your report design, drag theChartreport item from thePaletteview to the required location on theLayouttab of the main view.
- On theSelect Chart Typetab of theNew Chartdialog box, choose the type of chart that you would like to use. Different options are available for different chart types. For example, charts may offer multiple Y axes or 3D views.Charts with anOutput Formatset toSVGdo not render when a PDF is generated on Workday's servers, so ensure that you selectPNG,JPG, orBMP.
- On theSelect Datatab, specify the 2 types of data that Report Designer needs to create your chart: the Category series and the Value series. Think of these as your chart's X and Y axes. To add a series, drag a column heading from theData Previewsection to theCategory (X) SeriesorValue (Y) Seriesfield. Some chart types use slightly different names for theCategoryandValuefields, but the principle is always the same.
- On theFormat Charttab, edit the chart's formatting properties to your liking. Select a chart element from theChart AreaorSeriescategories on the left of the tab and adjust its properties on the right.
