Example: Set Up a Column Outline Structure

You want to set up an income statement that enables you to drill into data by using a:
  • Repeating column group that displays the data for each region.
  • Drillable column outline structure so you can view data by region.
  • Create actual and plan subreports.
  • Create an income statement composite report.
  • Security: These domains in the System functional area:
    • Custom Report Creation
    • Manage: All Custom Reports
  1. Access the
    Edit Custom Report
    task.
  2. Select
    Income Statement
    from the
    Report Name
    prompt.
  3. Click
    OK
    .
  4. From the toolbar, click the gear icon to access settings.
  5. On the
    General
    tab, add
    Region
    to the
    Business Object Enabled for Filtering and Grouping
    grid, and click
    OK
    .
  6. Access the
    Repeating Column Groups
    section on the
    Columns
    tab.
    1. You cannot configure column outlining for repeating column groups if conditional values already exist on a row or cell. Additionally, if your report already contains lookup, calculation, dynamic, or combine data rows, you must delete those rows, add the repeating column group and outline structure, and then recreate the rows.
  7. Click
    Add Repeating Column Group

  8. Select:

    Outline Structure
    prompt, select

  11. Confirm that the populated value in the
    Outline Structure
    prompt is the outline structure you created.
  12. Click
    OK

  13. Click
    Run
    .
When you run the report, Workday displays a drillable column where you can expand and collapse actual, plan, and variance data by region. As this outline structure uses a nested expansion hierarchy, configuring Drill-To Report Links on these columns is not supported. Drill-To links require a single hierarchy.
