To calculate salary over the cap amount for a pay period using the number of work periods in the academic year, you can select the
Salary Over the Cap - Use Academic Pay Annual Work Periods
check box in the Payroll Accounting
section on the Edit Tenant Setup – Payroll
task.Workday recommends selecting the check box when you use specialized configurations of academic pay using both an:
- Earning for the annual work period.
- Offset earning for the accrual payment.
Example: An academic professor teaches or conducts research during a 9-month school year where the:
- Annual salary over the cap amount is $197,300.
- Annualized academic pay percentage of the year is 75% of the full salary cap amount (197,300 × 0.75 = $147,975.0).
Workday calculates salary over the cap amount per period as (147,975/9 = $16,441.6667).
