Example: Configure Access to Payroll Journal Lines for a Cost Center Accountant
This example illustrates 1 way to configure access to payroll data for a non-payroll user.
You want to configure access to journal lines for a cost center accountant, based on pay component group.
- Access theCreate Pay Component Security Segmenttask.
- Name the pay component security segment:PCG_Finance_Analyst_View.
- Add these pay components:
- Base pay.
- Holiday pay.
- Access theCreate Security Grouptask.The security group you create links the cost center accountant's finance role to the specific segment of pay components they're allowed to view. See: Create Segment-Based Security Groups.
- From theType of Tenanted Security Groupprompt, selectSegment-Based Security Group.
- Name the security group:SBSG_Cost_Center_Accountant_Pay_View.
- From theAccess to Segmentsprompt, select thePCG_Finance_Analyst_Viewpay component security segment you created in steps 1-3.
- InGroup Criteria, select the security groups that you want to access securable items.
- Add theSBSG_Cost_Center_Accountant_Pay_Viewsecurity group to theReports: Payroll Journal Lines by Organization & Pay Componentdomain, giving the membersViewaccess. See: Edit Domain Security Policies.
- Access theActivate Pending Security Policy Changestask.You must activate membership and security permission updates to implement the changes. See: Activate Pending Security Policy Changes.
- Describe your changes in theCommentfield.
- Select theConfirmcheck box to activate your changes.
The cost center accountant can now view journal lines for the pay components you defined in the
PCG_Finance_Analyst_View
group using the Payroll Accounting Filter (by Accounting Date and Organization)
report.
