Create Configurable Cards

Security:
Set Up: Tenant Setup - Cards
domain in the System functional area.
You can use configurable cards to create, manage, and deploy custom content cards to specific functional hubs. The cards can deliver tailored information, external resources, or data visualizations onto the
Overview
page of the hub you select.
You can also publish cards on the
Manage Configurable Cards
report. After you publish a card, add it to a hub on the
Maintain Hubs
report.
Workday can display a maximum of 10 published cards on a hub overview page.
Data Viz cards use custom advanced, matrix, or trending reports to display the data.
  1. Access the
    Manage Configurable Cards
    report.
  2. Click
    Create New Card
    .
  3. Select 1 of these card types and click
    OK

    Data Viz Card
    Select to create a card that displays a custom report as a
    Chart
    or
    Chart and Table
    .
    Image Card
    Select to create a card for branding or partner content.
    Simple Card
    Select to create a card with text-based information and links.
  4. Complete the
    General
    section:
    Option
    Description
    Name
    Enter a name to identify the card type.
    Comment
    (Optional) Enter internal notes about the card.
    This information doesn’t display to users.
  5. Click
    Next
    .
  6. Complete the
    Header
    section:
    Option
    Description
    Card Title
    Enter the title of the card type.
    Card Subtitle
    (Optional) Enter supporting information that displays below the title.
  7. Click
    Next.
  8. Complete the
    Details
    section depending on the card type:
    Card Type
    Description
    Data Viz Card
    Select a custom report to visualize.
    Workday only displays custom reports that: Are matrix, advanced, or trending reports.
    • Have the Do Not Prompt at Runtime check box selected for each prompt field.
    • Have a
      Chart
      or
      Chart and Table
      output type. Data Viz cards don’t support tables without charts.
    • Have no column grouping. The output types
      Chart
      and
      Chart and Table
      don’t support column grouping.
    • Have
      Share with Authorized Users
      selected.
    Image Card
    Select or create a custom image for the card. Custom images must conform to your tenant's file size limit and permitted file types.
    Simple Card
    Enter the description of the card.
  9. (Optional) Complete the
    Footer
    section:
    Option
    Description
    Security Group/Condition Rule
    Select either:
    • Which security groups can access the tasks or reports in the footer.
    • A condition rule to determine who Workday displays the card to.
    External Link/Task/Report/Dashboard
    (Optional) Select an external link, task, report, or dashboard to redirect users to.
    You can add an item, such as a custom report, to the hub as a navigation item. If you also want to add it to the footer of a card, you must make a copy of the custom report. You can't use the same report in the hub navigation and the card footer.
  10. Click
    Next.
  11. Complete the
    Security
    section:
    Option Description
    Domains
    Select the domain to search and use the cards.
    Security Group
    Select which security groups can access the cards.
    Condition Rule
    Select a condition rule to determine who Workday displays the card to.
  12. In the
    Preview
    section, review the card appearance.
    Workday doesn't display data visualizations in
    Card Preview
    . Workday doesn't apply security policies or condition rules during
    Card Preview
    . To verify the visualization and security, publish the card, add it to a hub, and view the hub as that worker.
  13. Click
    OK
    .
  14. Select
    Publish
    on the card in the Cards grid.
Workday makes the published card available on the
Maintain Hubs
report so you can add it to a hub overview page.
Access the
Maintain Hubs
report to view the Hub and verify the card appears on the selected hub overview page. SeeSet Up Hubs
Access the
Manage Configurable Cards
report to edit, unpublish, or delete a card. You can’t unpublish a card that’s currently in use.
