Example: Set Up Segmented Security for Integration

This example illustrates how to set up segmented security for integration for the Special Duty time entry code.
You want to enable only integration system users to create, edit, and delete time blocks and time clock events that use the Special Duty time entry code. You secure the time entry code using segment-based security.
  • Create a Special Duty time entry code. See: Create Time Entry Codes.
  • Create the integration. See Create Integration System.
  • Security:
    • Security Activation
      domain in the System functional area.
    • Security Configuration
      domain in the System functional area.
    • Set Up: Tenant Setup - HCM
      domain in the System functional area.
    • Set Up: Time Tracking
      domain in the Time Tracking functional area.
  1. Access the
    Create Time Entry Code Security Segment
    task.
    1. In the
      Name
      field, enter
      Integration Time Entry Code Security Segment
      .
    2. From the
      Time Entry Code
      prompt, select
      Special Duty
      .
    3. Click
      OK
      and
      Done
      .
  2. Access the
    Create Security Group
    task.
    1. From the
      Type of Tenanted Security Group
      prompt, select
      Segment-Based Security Group
      .
    2. In the
      Name
      field, enter
      Integration Segment-Based Security Group for Time Entry Codes
      .
    3. Click
      OK
      .
    4. From the
      Security Groups
      prompt, select the security group that the integration system user belongs to.
    5. From the
      Access to Segments
      prompt, select
      Integration Time Entry Code Security Segment
      .
    6. Click
      OK
      and
      Done
      .
  3. Access the
    Domain Security Policies for Functional Area
    report.
    1. From the
      Functional Area
      prompt, select
      Time Tracking
      .
    2. Click
      OK
      .
    3. Click
      Edit Permissions
      .
    4. Add a row to the
      Integration Permissions
      grid.
    5. From the
      Security Groups
      prompt, select
      Integration Group
      .
    6. Select the
      Get
      and
      Put
      check boxes.
    7. Click
      OK
      and
      Done
      .
  4. Access the
    Activate Pending Security Policy Changes
    task.
    1. In the
      Comment
      field, describe your changes.
    2. Click
      OK
      .
    3. Select
      Confirm
      .
    4. Click
      OK
      .
  5. Access the
    Edit Tenant Setup - HCM
    task.
    1. In the
      Time Tracking
      section, select
      Enable Segment Security for Time Entry Codes
      .
    2. Click
      OK
      and
      Done
      .
