Concept: Skills in Succession Planning
Skills in succession planning enable you to leverage objective data when identifying potential successors. Using skills match analysis provides a high-level overview of how well a candidate’s skills overlap with the requirements of a specific position.
Skills Match Analysis
To calculate the skills match value, Workday divides the number of skills on the worker profile by the number of skills associated with the succession plan position. For more information about how to include skills in succession planning, see Steps: Set Up Succession.
Workday displays the following match labels in the
Skills Match
column of supported succession planning tasks and the Compare Candidates
report:
- Fair Match
- Good Match
- Strong Match
When you configure skills on the job profile, position restrictions, or both, Workday populates these match analysis columns in the succession plan candidate grid and the
Compare Candidates
report:
- Skills Match
- Matching Skills
- Skill Gaps
Compare Candidates
report displays the Worker Skills
column, and lists skills from the candidate's worker profile. For organizations with Skills Cloud enabled, this analysis includes both explicit and inferred skills for the candidate and the position. See Workday AI Fact Sheet: Skills in Succession Plans.
