Enable Worker Marital Status Update During Enrollment Events

Enable Worker Marital Status Update During Enrollment Events

Security:
  • For workers: the
    Self-Service: Marital Status
domain in the Personal Information functional area.
  • For benefits administrators and partners: the
    Person Data: Marital Status
domain in the Personal Information functional area.
You can consolidate a worker’s marital status updates within the benefits enrollment workflow to help enable more accurate eligibility and reporting. When a worker undergoes an open enrollment event or a life change event, they can update their marital status directly within the
Benefits Enrollment Questionnaire
.
Once you've enabled this feature, Workday strongly recommends that you don't turn it off, as doing so may cause unwanted downstream data impacts.
  1. Access the
    Maintain Marital Statuses
    task.
    For all
    Marital Status
options in this task in which a worker is still legally married, select the
    Is Married
    check box.
  2. Access the
    Configure Optional Fields
    task.
    Select
    Benefits
    Benefits Enrollment Questionnaire
    . Delete the row labeled
    Benefits - Personal Information
    .
Users with security access can update worker marital status in the
Marital Status
section of their
Update Your Information
page when the worker undergoes an open enrollment event or a life change event.
Workers who have positions in multiple countries will first be prompted to select their country before selecting their updated marital status for that country.
Workday automatically creates and completes a
Personal Information Change
event for the worker upon completion and finalization of either the
Open Enrollment
process or
Change Benefits for Life Event
process. If a worker already has an in-progress
Personal Information Change
event that includes a marital status change, they won’t be able to update their marital status as part of the benefits enrollment process.
The
Personal Information Change
event initiated through a benefits enrollment event bypasses any approvals, validations, To Do steps, and document review steps you may have configured in your
Personal Information Change
business process definition.
(U.S. federal) SF 2809 now reflects marital status changes captured during a worker’s enrollment event. If no marital status change has been made through an enrollment event, SF 2809 defaults to the worker’s existing marital status in their personal information.
