Concept: Role Requirements in Quotes

Role requirements are organized by categories such as, Skills, Location, Job Family, Resource Pool. Certain categories such as Location, Resource Pool, and Job Family permit only a single requirement value. Other categories such as Skills, allow multiple values. You can specify multiple role requirements for a category.

You can define role requirements:

Directly on the quote, by accessing the

Edit Role Requirements

page from the related actions of a role.

When you add a role that has role requirements configured on the project role in the

Maintain Project Roles

task, Workday automatically defaults those role requirements.

In the services catalog.

When you add roles in the services catalog, the values in the role requirements prompt initially default from the

Maintain Project Roles

task.

When a CPQ Specialist adds the service from the services catalog to the quote, the role requirements default on the quote role line based on catalog configuration.

Upon quote approval, Workday automatically passes the requirements from the quote to downstream project resource request or resource plan line.

Functionality Behavior:

When you copy a quote, or copy a role line, the associated role requirements are carried over to the new quote or new role.

The downstream Opportunity Project and Project created from a quote retain the specified role requirements.

Removing a role requirement from an approved quote's role line also removes it from the project resource request upon re-approval.

You can edit the role requirements on the project resource request manually after the Quote Event
completes.

When the quote event is still in progress, Workday prevents you from editing the project resource request until the event completes.

Same Role Requirement Category

: When you change an existing quote and re-submit it, the new requirements override the manual updates made on the resource request or resource plan line for the same role requirement category.

Different Role Requirement Category

: When you change an existing quote, and re-submit it, Workday doesn’t override the manual updates to role requirements defined on the project, when the category on the project resource request is different from the category on the quote.
