Steps: Load Assets to New Workday Implementations

You can load assets from another system into Workday using the
Register Assets
web service, enabling you to track and account for these assets in Workday. Workday registers assets:
- In the primary accounting asset book, populating asset information from the web service.
- In nonprimary asset books, populating:
- The cost and quantity details from the primary accounting asset book, converted to the alternate ledger currency for asset books in an alternate ledger currency.
- The accounting treatment and depreciation profile that you configure in asset book rules.
Workday doesn't generate accounting when you register assets using the
Register Assets
web service.You can't register assets:
- With different quantities by book.
- In nonprimary asset books but not in the primary accounting asset book.
- To load assets, create an inbound EIB based on theRegister Assetsweb service operation.Configure theAsset Registration Eventbusiness process and security policy in the Business Asset Accounting functional area.
- (Optional) Assign Asset Accounting Information.Review how Workday populates cost and depreciation details on assets, and change information as necessary.The task enables you to change depreciation information in the primary accounting asset book only.
- (Optional) To change cost and depreciation information in nonprimary asset books, including costs in an alternate ledger currency, create an inbound EIB based on theUpdate Asset Book Configurationweb service operation.Security:Putaccess toProcess: Non-Accounting Asset Booksdomain in the Business Asset Accounting functional area.
