Certify Account Balances in AP&C
- Define theAccount Certification Eventbusiness process and security policy.
- You've reconciled all accounts you want to certify.
- Trial balance is ready for approval.

If you don't already use basic account certification, we recommend that you explore the Account Reconciliation feature. We don't plan to enhance basic account certification in future releases. See Setup Considerations: Account Reconciliation in AP&C.
In Adaptive Planning and Consolidation (AP&C), you can create quick, one-off, basic account certifications that require immediate action without creating certification sets and assigning roles. You can then submit the reconciled account balances for review and approval.
- Access theCreate Basic Account Certificationtask.
- As you complete the task, consider:
Option Description Ledger Account/SummarySelect the ledger accounts and ledger account summaries you want to certify for the certification.BookLeave blank to select all books.Balance or ActivitySelect if you want to certify a ledger account balance or ledger account activity.Year to date balance includes beginning balance journals for balance sheet accounts. Ensure that you roll year-end balances forward before you selectBalance.WorktagsSelect specific worktags to enable reviewers and approvers to drill down and certify individual worktag balances for the ledger account.Leave blank to select all worktags associated with the ledger account.PrioritySelect how you want to prioritize processing certifications. Example: Select a high priority for certifications you want to complete early. - ClickOK.In theLedger Accounts to Certifygrid, Workday populates these fields with the balances of the accounts you select in theLedger Account/Summaryfield:
- Ledger Account Balance
- Amount to Certify for Account
- In theAmount to Certify for Accountfield, enter the amount to certify for each account.Workday calculates and populates theVariancefield with the difference between the amounts you enter in theAmount to Certify for Accountfield and theLedger Account Balance.
- (Optional) Attach supporting documents.
- (Optional) ClickSave for Laterto save the certification in aDraftstatus.You can still edit and cancel an account certification from the related actions menu of the account certification in aDraftstatus on theFind Basic Account Certificationsreport.
Workday initiates the
Account Certification Event
business process and sends My Tasks
notifications to reviewers and approvers for necessary action at their end.(Optional) To cancel an approved account certification, navigate to
Find Basic Account Certifications
report and from the related actions menu of the approved certification, select Cancel
