Account Details

Field
Description
Code
A unique combination of letters, numbers, and underscores. You can't use spaces or other special characters. If left blank for imports, Adaptive Planning auto-generates the code.
Name
Displays on sheets, reports, and charts. The name doesn’t need to be unique. For words to avoid and other guidelines, see Reference: Naming Conventions Best Practices.
Short Name
Any combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. Overrides the display name of the account for dashboard charts when the account name is long.
Rolls up to
Populates the highlighted account or group when you select
Create New Account
.
Indicates the parent account.
Type
  • Periodic
: The value in any given time period equals the net activity for that period.
  • Link
: A modeled or cube account populates the values of this account.
Appears
Available for cube assumption accounts only. Indicates where you can view the data of the account:
  • Only when on top level
: View and enter data only at the top level.
  • On all levels
: View only at any level, except the top level where you can enter data.
Links to
Available for linked leaf accounts.
Unavailable in cube or modeled account hierarchies.
Lists modeled and cube accounts that populate the account as an aggregated value.
Add Linked Accounts or Edit Linked Accounts
Available for linked leaf accounts.
Unavailable in cube or modeled account hierarchies.
Displays when you add or edit links in the
Links to
content box. Use the prompts to select source sheets, then the accounts on the sheet.
Change Sign +/-
Available for linked leaf accounts.
Unavailable in cube or modeled account hierarchies.
Pulls the inverse value of the highlighted link, which subtracts rather than sums. Example: Accumulated depreciation is a positive value in a modeled sheet. When linked to a General Ledger account, you can flip the sign so that it displays as a negative value in your General Ledger.
Apply Dimension Value
Available for linked leaf accounts.
Unavailable in cube or modeled account hierarchies.
Applies dimension values that don't exist on the highlighted source sheet to the data.
Link Filters
Available for linked leaf accounts.
Unavailable in cube or modeled account hierarchies.
Pulls in only the data that tagged with the dimension or attribute that you select from the drop-down prompts.
Time Rollup
Unavailable for modeled assumptions. Sets how the account calculates the values for time rollups:
  • Sum of rolled up values
: Sums all the values for the period. Example: Sums January through March for the first quarter rollup.
  • Average of rolled up values
: Takes the average of the time period values. Example: Totals the values for January through March and then divides by 3 for the first quarter rollup.
  • Weighted average of roll up values
: Uses the values of an account or assumption to weigh each period before averaging. Example: An average expense per headcount time rollup weighted by the headcount.
Level/Dimension Rollup
Sets how the account calculates the totals for level and dimension rollups. Example: Total Company is a level that has 3 child levels: Sales, Manufacturing, and IT. You enter 100, 200, and zero for each level respectively. At the top-level, select how you would like Total Company to display the rollup value:
  • Sum of rolled up values
: Sums all the values for the level or dimension. Example: The level rollup is 300 (100+200+0).
  • Non-Blank average of rolled up values
: Takes the average of the data, excluding blanks. If a cell contains zero (not blank), the zero is calculated in the average. Example: The level rollup is 100 ((100+200)/3).
  • Weighted average of roll up values
: Uses the values of an account or assumption to weigh each dimension before averaging. Example: If Sales has twice the weight of the other 2 departments, the weighted average for the departments, the rollup for the departments is 133 ((2*100+200)/3). For cube-entered accounts, you must select this option from the custom account hierarchy.
  • Text
: Displays text that you specify for the dimension rollup. Select this option if you don't want to display data for dimension rollups.
Linked accounts inherit the level and dimension rollup of the source account.
Weighted By
Required when the
Level/Dimension Rollup
is
Weighted average of rollup values
.
Provides the weighted average of the time or dimension rollup.
Display Text
Required when
Level/Dimension rollup
is
Text
.)
Provides the text that displays for dimension rollups. Enter any kind of text, such as NA or --, or leave blank.
Enable actuals
Available for leaf accounts.
Unavailable for linked accounts. Displays actuals data over the plan data of plan versions.
No actuals for accounts
Available for leaf accounts that aren't linked. Displays only plan data in plan versions. Formulas for accounts without actuals overlay result in blank data when the formula references actuals data, including cells in the sheet with actuals overlay.
Enable actuals for link
Available for linked leaf accounts.
Displays actuals data over the plan data for plan versions in both the source and target accounts.
Show actuals if linked account has them
Available for linked leaf accounts.
Displays actuals data over the plan data for plan versions only when the source account has actuals enabled already.
View Dependencies
Indicates where the model references the account:
  • Calculated Accounts
: Lists accounts that refer to this account in the formula of the account settings.
  • Shared Formulas
: Lists the accounts by version and level that refer to this account with shared formulas.
  • Cube Entries
: Lists the accounts by cube sheet name that refer to this account with formulas entered on cube sheets.
  • Other Entries
: Lists the accounts by version, level, and time period that refer to this account with formulas entered on modeled and standard sheets.
  • Rules
: Lists the allocation and elimination rules that refer to this account
  • Journal Entries
Available for Cosolidation only. Lists the journal entries that refer to this account by journal entry number, version, and level.
  • Reports
: Lists the report names that refer to this account with custom calculations.

Account Attributes

Field
Description
Prompts with the account attributes available in your model. Varies per instance.
Available if your model has account attributes.
Tags the account with attributes. The number of drop-down prompts match the number of account attributes available in your model.

Data Type

Field
Description
Account Time Stratum
Read-only indication of the time strata intersection where data exists.
Display As
Required. Read-only for child accounts or linked accounts.
Indicates how the data displays on sheets:
  • Number
: The data displays numerical values.
  • Percent
: The data displays as percents.
Decimal Places
Indicates the number of decimal places for the data:
  • Any number 0-9.
  • Currency's precision
: Follows the setting for the currency. You can use the link to review the decimal places for all your currencies.

Sheets

Field
Description
Account may be suppressed when zero or blank
Unavailable for modeled assumptions.
Hides the account on sheets when all values are zero or blank.
Account will not be suppressed even when zero or blank
Unavailable for modeled assumptions.
Always displays the account on sheets.
Start expanded
Available for rollup accounts, and unavailable for cubed or modeled assumptions. Indicates how rollup accounts display on the sheet:
  • Yes
: Expands rollup or group accounts on sheets to display child accounts.
  • No
: Collapses rollup or group accounts on sheets.
Each person who opens a sheet can change their sheet view and save it as their default, which overrides this setting.
Use in Breakback
Unavailable for cube or modeled assumptions. Makes the assumption available as a breakback option for time rollups in sheets, and the auto-breakback in General Setup.
Read only on sheet
Available for cube assumptions only. Locks the account data in sheets to prevent users from changing it.
