Example: Set Up Net Assets for Full Consolidation
This example illustrates how to set up accounts in the general ledger Equity account for full consolidation. You use default formulas and the weighted-average translation settings. When completed as part of full consolidation, the data rolls up in the level hierarchy with the appropriate minority adjustments.
Parent Company owns 80% of a subsidiary called Child Company. You want the Net Income account in the Income Statement to flow properly into the Net Asset account in the Balance Sheet. You also want data to roll up to the parent company with adjustments based on ownership.

The formula in
YTD Minority Interest
account pulls in the data and swaps the sign of the value of the Minority Interest Adjustment account. Because it's a cumulative account, the value accumulates through the time periods. The weighted-average translation settings move the end of year value to the
Net Assets, Beginning
account at the start of the next year. At the start of the year, the YTD Minority Interest
resets to zero and starts accumulating again. Both accounts roll up to the
Net Assets
account as part of your Equity
.To automate the minority adjustments, set up the full consolidation method and assign ownership percentages.
