Erase All Data in Sheets

Erase All Data in Sheets

  • Existing cube or modeled sheets.
  • Security:
Model includes sheets, accounts, dimensions, and formulas
    permission.
Erase All Data
is available in the
Modeling
area for cube and modeled sheets. The
Erase All Data
function enables you to delete all data across all versions, including locked versions.
You might need to erase all the data in cube and modeled sheets for these reasons:
  • You want to delete a dimension or dimension value that's in use.
  • You uploaded data incorrectly.
  • During the initial model build, you loaded "dummy" data and want to delete it so you can load the real data.
When you erase the data, you don't erase:
  • Calculated account formulas.
  • Account links.
  • Any of the sheet definition, such as dimensions, accounts, and columns.
You do delete all the data, including formulas entered into the cells. For modeled sheets, erasing the data deletes the data in locked and archived versions. For cube sheets, erasing the data deletes the data in locked version, but not in archived versions.
When necessary, you can download the data for specific versions to save the historical data before erasing it. Depending on the amount and complexity of the data you can:
  • Download the sheet from the sheet view.
  • Create a matrix report that matches the cube sheet definition. Then, export the report to Excel.
  • Create a modeled report that matches the modeled sheet definition. Then export the report to Excel.
  1. Select
    Modeling
    from the main menu.
  2. Click
    Level Assigned Sheets
    or
    User Assigned Sheets
    .
  3. Click
    Edit
next to the name of the cube or modeled sheet.
  4. Click
    Erase All Data
    .
For cube sheets, all the data entry cells are blank.
For modeled sheets, the sheet no longer has rows.
