Add Prompting Parameters

Create or edit a matrix report. See Create Basic Matrix Reports.

Add report parameters. See Add Parameters to Matrix Reports.

When specifying report parameter settings, you can:

Select the

Prompt before viewing

option to display the

Select Prompting Parameters

page. Report users must then select parameter options on this page before running the report.

Leave the

Prompt before viewing

option as is to display the report viewer directly where users can select parameter options.

When you download matrix reports with prompting parameters to non-HTML formats, the

Select Prompting Parameters

page displays where users can:

Select parameter options.

Run and download the report.

Go to

Reports

Start a new matrix report or run an existing one and click

Edit

Right-click the parameters for which you want to add prompts. Then, select

Properties

Under

Initial choice

, select

Prompt before viewing

and click

Apply

Save and run the report.

The

Select Prompting Parameters

page displays the parameter prompts.

Select your parameter options and click

Run Report

to open the report in the viewer.

(Optional) Click

Cancel

to return to the report page where you started. Example: report builder or reports overview.

(Optional) Click

Show all Parameters

to display all prompting and nonprompting parameters.

The

Show all Parameters

link displays only when you have a mix of both prompting and nonprompting parameters. Example: Report books.

(Optional) For report books, use the caret (arrow icon) to expand or collapse the reports and navigate to select parameter options.

Use the Save As option in report viewer to display the Save As dialog where you can select a new name and location for the report. There’s an option to disable prompting for all parameters. If you select this option, all existing prompting parameters become nonprompting. The current parameter choices save as initial selections for the parameters.
