Turn On Audit Trail for Versions

Security:
Versions
permission.
Audit trail displays the history of user-entered changes for cells in sheets. This information helps you answer:
  • Where the data originated.
  • When the data was created.
  • Who made the latest changes to the data.
Audit trail tracks changes to:
  • All data entered sheets.
  • All sheet cells in which the user can enter any values, such as date and text columns.
  • Shared formulas created in the
    Formulas
    area.
  • Values or formulas entered in assumptions, including global, cube sheet, and modeled sheet assumptions.
  • Monthly and spread lookup tables in modeled sheet builders.
  • Values or formulas entered on the Locales sheet.
  • Cell notes.
  • Currency exchange rates.
Audit trail doesn't explicitly record and track individual sign-in and sign-out actions. The
User Activity Log
tracks sign-in activity.
You can turn on audit trail for any version. However, you should use audit trail with caution to avoid unnecessary burdens on the performance of your model. We recommend that you:
  • Turn off audit trail for any version where you import the data. Audit trail logs every change to every cell, which is unnecessary for imported data.
  • Turn off audit trail for your actual version. In general, the actuals version on Adaptive Planning is not your source of truth. Therefore, audit trail might not be necessary.
  • Be selective about audit trail when you have actuals sub-versions. Turn it on for sub-versions that have manual adjustments and for journal entry versions. Turn it off for sub-versions where you import data, including the root actuals.
For versions with audit trail enabled, you can clone the new version and:
  • Copy the audit trail history.
  • Clone without copying the audit trail history.
  1. Select
    Modeling
    from the main menu.
  2. Click
    Versions
    .
  3. Highlight a version in the version list.
  4. Select
    Audit Trail
    in the
    Options
    section of the
    Version Details
    to turn it on.
  5. (Optional) Uncheck
    Audit Trail
    to turn it off.
Turning off audit trail deletes all of the audit trail information for the version.
