Delete Accounts

Delete Accounts

  • To save the data in historical versions, including locked versions, you can export it before deleting the account.
  • Security:
    Model includes sheets, accounts, dimensions, and formulas
     permission.
When you delete accounts, you can't reverse the action. You also delete all the data related to the account in all versions. The 1 exception to deleting data is when you delete the only child account of an account. In this case, you don't delete the data. Instead, the data in the child account moves to the parent account.
When you delete accounts, you:
  • Delete all the child accounts and the data of the child accounts.
  • Delete all account splits.
  • Delete audit trail data.
  • Delete account mappings.
  • Break any formulas that reference the account, except in archived versions.
There are some general ledger accounts that you can't delete. See Reference: Built-In General Ledger Accounts.
  1. Select
    Modeling
     from the main menu.
  2. Click the account hierarchy:
    • General Ledger Accounts
      .
    • Metric Accounts
      .
    • Custom Accounts
      .
    • Assumptions
      .
    • To access cube and modeled accounts:
      1. Click
        Level Assigned Sheets
         or
        User Assigned Sheets
        .
      2. Click
        Edit
         next to the cube or modeled sheet.
      3. Click
        Cube Accounts
         or
        Modeled Accounts
        .
  3. From the hierarchy list, highlight the account that you want to delete.
  4. Click the
    View dependencies
     link in the
    Account Details
     section.
    The
    View dependencies
     link opens a window that includes several tabs. Each tab displays where the model uses and references the account. Example: Shared formulas that reference the account. Use the tabs to help you resolve those areas before you delete the account.
  5. Click the trash icon.
When the account has:
  • Child accounts, you automatically delete the child accounts.
  • No sibling accounts, you automatically move the data to the parent account.
  • Sibling accounts, you delete the account and all data, even in locked and archived versions.
